Colorado Governor Signs Bill to Increase the Amount of Cannabis Adults Can Legally Possess

Updated: Jun 16, 2022

On Thursday, May 20th, Governor Polis signed into law HB21-1090, which will increase the amount of cannabis an adult can legally possess in Colorado. The legal possession amount has doubled, from 1 ounce now up to 2 ounces.

This new legislation carries an array of benefits. One of the most notable is that prior convictions may now be eligible for record sealing without first going through the prosecuting district attorney.

This bill does not amend possession rights for anyone under 21 years of age, keeping possession of any amount of cannabis illegal for anyone under 21.

The bill can be found here.
