The Colorado Psilocybin Mushroom Decriminalization and Therapy Program Initiative may appear on the ballot in Colorado as an initiated state statute on November 8, 2022.
The initiative would:
decriminalize the personal use of psilocybin mushrooms for adults age 21 and older;
create a natural medicine services program for the supervised administration of psilocybin mushrooms;
create a framework for regulating the growth, distribution, and sale of mushrooms to permitted entities; and
create the Natural Medicine Advisory Board to implement the regulated access program
Proponents filed two versions of the initiative. The provisions contained vary slightly in each version.
A growing body of medical research suggests that psilocybin and other psychedelic drugs could help treat anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and addiction. That promise has given rise to dozens of companies eventually hoping to cash in.
